Tea at 3 o'clock

A letter from the Grand Secretary of the GL MMM

Dear Provincial & District Grand Masters and Grand Inspectors

In these unprecedented times where covid-19 is a global crisis, it’s important that we maintain our links and think not just of those Brethren we are used to seeing or hearing from frequently but, perhaps more especially, of those we haven’t seen for some time. The United Grand Lodge of England has been encouraging its members to raise a glass to Absent Brethren at 9pm wherever in the world you maybe.

Thanks to our Brethren in the Province of Northamptonshire & Huntingdonshire, a ‘tea at 3 o’clock’ toast has been started encouraging all Mark Master Masons throughout the world to take a cup of tea at 3pm and remember, phone or email a friend and brother to check they are ok. At the same time, sparing a thought for all Mark Master Masons throughout the Constitution, trusting that they are safe and well.

The Pro Grand Master has committed to support this initiative and I have attached his email to Northants & Hunts. Confirming he will take tea (and a biscuit or two) at 3pm. So, come on Brethren, let’s get on board with this – why not post something on social media showing you taking tea at 3?

Wishing you continued good health. Stay safe.

With fraternal regards and best wishes.

Ryan

A letter from the Pro GM of the GL MMM

Dear W. Bro Barry, what a wonderful idea and I will most certainly be joining at 3pm today and I will tell Anne that it is compulsory that I am permitted a chocolate biscuit, currently they are rationed to just one with my mid morning coffee.

Today at 3pm will also be special for many of our members as that is the time when e-mail notifications will begin to arrive in the e-mail boxes of those receiving Grand Rank, I hope those being notified don't spill their tea when their in box pings.

I will also join in and use 15 minutes today and each day to make the phone calls suggested, sipping my tea between calls and if no one is looking dunking my biscuit!

A wonderful initiative, well done Northants and Hunts and I hope it will spread rapidly among all our Mark Brethren.

By copy of this letter I will ask our Grand Secretary, who is working as hard as ever in these strange and sometimes difficult times, to let all our PGM's know of this and I hope it will not be long before all our Mark members are joining in. Perhaps time for our Investment Committee to be buying shares in the Yorkshire Tea Company!

Every best wish, stay safe and keep well. RAY

In support of this excellent idea I submit my photo. I am sending it immediately in the event embarrassment may delete it if I think about it for too long!

I believe the Pro GM is rather partial to chocolate biscuits – I will oblige.

An Important update (inc pic)!

You will notice the extended little finger of the right hand in the form of a square, this symbolises the great respect and friendship we hold for our brethren in Freemasonry.
